Joe McGinty
Joe McGinty is a composer, producer and keyboard player based in New York. His first professional gig was with “Franco and Mary Jane”, a touring casino lounge act.
After a few years on the casino/lounge circuit, he joined Philadelphia hitmaker Robert Hazard’s band (“Girls Just Want To Have Fun”), and can be heard on his LP “Darling”.
McGinty left Robert Hazard’s band to join the Psychedelic Furs, and played with them for five years. He recorded the albums “Book Of Days” and “World Outside” with them.
After the breakup of the Furs, McGinty became an in-demand keyboardist for hire. He has performed and/or recorded with The Ramones, Deborah Harry, Nada Surf, Moby, Craig Wedren, Devendra Banhart, Ryan Adams, Jewel, Jill Sobule, Space Hog, Ronnie Spector, LaLa Brooks (of the Crystals), Conor Oberst, Amy Rigby, Martha Wainwright, and Peter Salett.
He started the Loser’s Lounge in December of 1993, to showcase the giants of pop music. The Loser’s Lounge still performs to sold-out crowds at Joe’s Pub. The Loser’s Lounge began at the legendary Fez nightlcub, and has also performed at Celebrate Brooklyn, Lincoln Center Outdoors, World Cafe Live (in Philadelphia), Makor Art Center and The Jewish Museum.
