Joe McGinty & The Loser’s Lounge present the debut of an all new show: “Dylan/ Not Dylan.” A night of songs written by Bob Dylan, one of the greatest songwriters of all time, but performed as they were interpreted by other artists. What do Adele, The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, Rod Stewart, P.J. Harvey, Manfred Mann, Guns & Roses, Peter, Paul and Mary, Sam Cooke, Nico, Cher, Bryan Ferry, The Staple Singers, The Band, Julie Driscoll and Johnny Cash – to name a few - all have in common???
The answer is that they’ve all released their own versions of songs originally written by Bob Dylan. On February 24-26, 2022 The Loser’s Lounge and their eclectic cast of downtown performers, will be honoring these interpretations, and performing live, the Dylan songs that are Not (entirely) Dylan.

On Friday November 8th, Joe McGinty & The Loser’s Lounge join forces with world renowned New York City Soul Man Carlton J. Smith to debut “The Soul of Tom Waits.” This all new show explores what happens when you combine the songwriting genius of Tom Waits, with the classic Soul and R&B arrangements, and energetic performances of The Loser’s Lounge and singer Carlton J. Smith. “Not only is The Loser’s Lounge exited to be performing the incredible songs of Tom Waits for the first time, this is also the first show that we’re doing that features only one lead singer, rather than our long standing multiple guest-singer format. Carlton J. Smith is an incredible front man, who will definitely bring the SOUL to ‘The Soul of Tom Waits,’“ says Loser’s Lounge founder and band leader Joe McGinty. “You’ve never heard these songs quite like this before! It’s as if Wilson Pickett and Bobby Womack tackled the Tom Waits songbook,” adds Smith. In the mid-1970s record producers Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff and Thom Bell created a new world of pop-music hailing from The City of Brotherly Love, called “Philadelphia Soul.” Joe McGinty – The Losers Lounge Band Leader – says, “The ‘Philadelphia Soul’ sound combined sophisticated arrangements a la Burt Bacharach with soulful grooves a la Motown to create an incredible string of hits by groups like the O’Jays, The Spinners, The Delfonics, and The Stylistics. Having grown up in South Jersey, the Philadelphia Soul sound has always been a huge influence to me.” Sexy, funky, danceable and lush, the arrangements of The Philadelphia Soul sound are credited with being the precursor to Disco as well as an influence on pop music at large to this day.
